 Preview

Australia and England series had started off with pure class as both the teams had a fare on field battle against each other. But the home team, England held their nerve to win this one as the Aussies ran in close while chasing that modest total on Friday.

England are already 1-0 up in the series after their win. Now Australia needs to fight back if they want to level the series at 1-1 at the venue where the first T20I series was played. Australia haven’t played any International game since 5 long months. So it will be a challenge for the visitors to make a comeback in the series.

Australia needs to include Marnus Labuschgne in their middle order. Labuschagne had a great Ashes test series last year. He was a concussion replacement to Steve Smith. But now Marnus had been a permanent feature in Australia’s squad of all the three formats of the game.

The Aussies openers gave them a solid start. David Warner scored a handful half century while the Skipper Aaron Finch played a gusty knock of 46 runs and the opening duo added 98 runs for the first wicket.

But still, Australia ended up in a losing side. That is mainly because the middle order batsmen didn’t fire for them and Marcus Stoinis was left alone to do the finishing work which he failed to do. Including Labuschagne will be good for the tourist.

He had an awesome Test series last year and if he could replicate that form in this series of shortest format, then Australia might end up winning the T20 International series coming from behind. Australia are 0-1 down in the series after they were so close but yet so far on Friday.

Players like Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Alex Carey will have to hold the innings after the openers have done their job and even with Labuschagne is in the squad. Even after a such a good opening start, the middle order players couldn’t capitalise on it, which made an easy way for England to bounce back into the T20I match.

Australia should also include Josh Hazlewood in place of Marcus Stoinis. Even tough Australia bowled well in the first match and Starc was wicket less in his 4 overs. While Stoinis, the all rounder wasn’t given a single over to bowl in that match.

But if they include Hazlewood in place of Stoinis, that will do the best for Australia. The visitors will have a strong bowling attack which will put the pressure right back on England. The bowling trio of Hazlewood, Starc and Cummins is deadly. It can devastate any great batting line up in the world and the conditions in England suite them as well.

Adan Zampa and Ashton Agar will retain their place in the squad. Agar is an spin bowling all rounder. He should contribute with the bats as well. Agar should have provided the support to Stonis in finishing the first game. But never the less, Agar shpild correct his mistakes in next two must win games for Australia.

Australia haven’t won a T20I series in England. From their first tour of 2005 till the last tour of 2018, England have won three series while two T20I series between Australia and England have ended in a draw.

England bounced back well after the solid partnership between Finch and Warner. The bowlers delivered the most vital part and gave them a fantastic win in the first game of the series. Having that kind of win at the start of the series will up lift the England’s Cricket Team.

But still, they need to sort their batting issues before they clinch the second T20I match on Sunday. Johnny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton and Moeen Ali should fire in the next fire. These batsmen failed to deliver in the first game of the series.

It was a little cameo from Jos Buttler at the top and a heroics knock from Dawid Malan which helped them to post a decent total on the scoreboard. Tom Banton batted well against Pakistan as an opener, that’s why England should keep Banton at the top.

Jos Buttler has been in decent form, he played well as opener. But England will need him at the middle order because after Eoin Morgan, there is no batter for England to finish  games. Moeen Ali and Tom Curran haven’t been the good with the bat. If England wants to win the the series on Sunday, then the lower order batsmen should also contribute.

The bowling trio of Archer, Wood and Rashid did a good job. England will hope that these three will deliver with the ball hand in the next two T20I also.
